True humility

2 Samuel 7:18 (Berean Study Bible)

"Who am I, O Lord God, and what is my house, that you have brought me this far"?

These are the words spoken by a truly humble man. King David was at the end of his life and was recounting to the Lord how truly blessed he had been. David's success had not gone to his head and even in his last days he remained a humble and faithful servant of God. Compare this with the false piety and humility of the Pharisees who promised equality to all but shunned the truly righteous and just without even lifting a finger to help them.
