John 14:6
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me."
These words of Christ are so simple that we may miss their significance. It's easy to fall into the trap of our self-righteousness and, like the Pharisees, believe that our personal holiness can somehow take us to heaven. We may confess the Lord but start taking pride in our own morality. Such things can become false gods or idols. We have to constantly be aware that even our own holiness comes from the Lord and that there's no other way to the Father. Amen.
