God's patience

Luke 13:8 (NASB)

"And he answered and said to him, 'Let it alone, sir, fot this year too, until I dig around it and put fertilizer in it"

God's patience is eternal but not unlimited. In this verse, we can assume that the owner of the vineyard is God the Father while the Lord Jesus is the gardener. Christ is pleading with God the Father to allow us, the body of Christ or the fig tree, to grow as He nurtures and fertilizes us with His Holy Spirit. God expects us to bear the fruit of the Spirit and is eternally patient. But there's a judgment day coming. If we're unproductive in the Lord's service, thanks be to Jesus we'll escape His wrath as saints, but will have no reward in heaven. We'll be as those just escaping the fires of hell. May we bear much fruit to His glory and win an eternal crown. Amen.
