Moral rectitude

Romans 2:23 (NIV)

You who brag about the law, do you dishonor God by breaking the law?

We have a notion that God intends to make us specimens of holiness and righteousness. We're indeed being conformed to the image of Christ and all of creation is eagerly waiting for the saints to be revealed in heaven. However, God is not perfecting us so that we can condemn others and brag about ourselves. Paul has a very good point that the Pharisees who paraded themselves as champions of the law always came up short on their own integrity. May we never put ourselves in such situations.
