Release International Prayer Shields, Laos and Algeria

Laos

Praise God that a house church in Boke province in Laos whose building was destroyed by police has seen such strong growth that it has had to expand its new building.

Laos

Many Christians in Laos are socially ostracised by their community because they have abandoned traditional religions. For example, local shops refuse to sell to them. Ask God to meet all their needs.

Laos

Pray for Sa whose parents rejected and expelled her when she became a Christian. She is now living with another family but their village in Laos has a history of persecuting Christians.

Laos

Thank God for the release in Laos of Pastor Sithong Theppavong. He was detained in 2020 after refusing to stop his worship services in Savannakhet. He was recently given a one-year sentence for ‘creating disorder’ but he had already served his time behind bars.

Laos

Continue to pray for a group of Christian families who are refusing to leave their homes in Laos, despite ongoing persecution from their community. Release associate ministries have provided practical support, including food.

Algeria

Pray that Algeria will become a beacon of religious tolerance, an African nation where people of different faiths can live together in peace.

Algeria

Thank God for the powerful witness of Christians’ obedience to God in Algeria. On the door of a church which had been forcibly closed, a Muslim neighbour taped this note: ‘I am sure that Jesus is proud of you because at times you must lay aside the things that are important to you in order to follow His path. All my respect.’
