It is not for your sake that I'm doing this.


God Almighty promised restoration to the reprobate nation of Israel despite their sins. He wasn't promising them blessings because of their goodness, but because of their sins. God can't violate His own goodness. Likewise, as much as Christ came to save humanity He primarily came out of obedience to God the Father. Our service and sacrifice will benefit humanity, but our main objective should always be to please God.
