Isaiah 53:5 (NIV)
..and the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him
Unless we comprehend the magnitude of this verse we'll never truly understand what exactly happened on the cross. The world we live in is rife with strife and turmoil. World leaders who try to broker peace without God will certainly fail. The only peace we'll have in this world is inner peace, and what a tranquility that is. The holy and only begotten Son of God received the punishment, on our behalf, that brought us this inner peace in this world and eternal peace with a righteous God. May we never forget this fact. Amen.
