Blessed

Psalm 45:2 (NIV)

Since God has blessed you forever.

Do we consider ourselves blessed? When someone asks us that question, most of us would say yes and start counting our blessings such as family, health, wealth and such. To be sure they're all blessings. But I wonder how many of us consider suffering for Christ a blessing as well (Philippians 1:29). There's something exquisite about communion with God in the deepest and darkest of sufferings. Mountain top experiences (Matthew 17) may give us a euphoric high, but our character is tested in the demon possessed valleys that come after that. The greatest blessing in this life is to share in His sufferings on this earth so that we may share in His joy in heaven.
