Clean

Luke 5:13 (NIV)

Be clean.

God isn't prohibiting us from being clean and holy. A man should have the desire to be holy. In this verse, the unclean leper begged the Lord Jesus to cleanse him. He had a desire to be set free from his illness. That desire to be clean was more powerful than all his other natural desires, including food, clothing, companionship, and others. No one would want to be holy unless they're absolutely disgusted with themselves. That desire to be clean isn't just metaphysical but a deep desire to be rid of that which is plaguing their soul. Unless a man wants to be desperately clean and holy, he'll never ask the Lord for help nor believe Him.
