Consciousness

Exodus 3:14 (NASB)

I am who I am.

Our consciousness and self-awareness come from God Almighty. As human beings made in the image of God, we have the same self-awareness and consciousness that God Himself has. We begin to realize who we are and our identity at a young age (Luke 2:49). However, not many of us may readily become aware of the divine Creator who made us in His image.

Although God had made it easy for us to be aware of His Presence through nature (Romans 1:20), sin taints and corrupts our ability to perceive the Creator. Sin had also corrupted nature (Romans 8:20) enough to block the blessings of God (Genesis 3:17), if not His Presence. Only in Christ do we consciously begin to sense and be aware of God's Presence.
