Deeper intimacy

Luke 5:4 (Berean Study Bible)

Put out into deep water, and let down your nets for a catch.

True intimacy with Christ can only found when we stop trusting our wits and truly surrender to Him. Peter was a skilled and experienced fisherman. He was certainly not going to be lectured by a stranger. He had fished all night and caught nothing. But there was something about this Nazarene which made him follow His suggestion, "But, because you say so,..........". Not only did Peter catch fish that day, he also became a "fisher of men". If we want to be useful to God and find meaning in our mediocre lives then we need to dig deeper into a relationship with Him.
