Empowerment

John 5:7 (NASB)

Get up, pick up your pallet, and walk.

God doesn't hold us responsible for the condition we are in (John 9:3), but He will call us to account for not believing that He can get us out of that situation. In this verse, we see Christ encountering the disabled person lying by the pool of Bethesda. Unlike today's politicians or denominations trying to appease people either for their votes or contributions, Christ empowered disabled people. The burning question that Holy Spirit poses to us is this, "Do you want to get well"? Saints embrace the Lord and His power and become productive in the Kingdom of God while the spiritually slothful make excuses and seek special exemptions. God wants us to be empowered, not entitled.
