Higher

Luke 14:10 (NASB)

Friend, move up higher.

A demon-possessed man struggling with sin in the valley can only see the mountain peak from the depths and lacks the power to rise higher. Some have been captive to sin for so long that they can't imagine that there is a higher and nobler life and purpose. The Lord says to people such as us, "Friend, move up higher." When the Lord calls us higher, He does two things. He creates a desire to move higher toward God and His abode, enabling us to move higher. Moving higher above the demon-possessed valley, we notice that the air is cleaner and fresher at higher altitudes. The higher we rise in the Lord towards His heavenly abode, the more refreshed we are in His Holy Spirit.
