Mark 12:27: "He is not the God of the dead, but of the living."

This is one of the most radical verses in the entire Bible. When God spoke to Moses, He was not making a rhetorical statement but a living fact. Roughly 400-600 years had elapsed between Isaac/Jacob and Moses. God did not say, I was the God of Issac and Jacob. He said, "I am the God of..." What does that tell us? It tells us that Isaac and Jacob are alive in God's Presence right now. When Peter, James, and John witnessed Moses and Elijah talking to the Lord Jesus during His transfiguration, they weren't seeing ghosts or imagining things. They were seeing the living Moses and Elijah. Spirit beings are not visible to us unless God chooses to reveal them. Remember how the resurrected Christ could appear and vanish at will, pass through a solid wall and such? That's how it is with Spiritual bodies, which we'll also have someday. What matters is that every saint who died in the Lord is very much alive in God's Presence right now. We can't see them, but they are there.
