Power

Luke 8:46 (NIV)

I know that power has gone out from Me.

God intends for every saint to be a source and channel of His power and grace to a lost and dying world. The Holy Spirit lives in us not just to glorify our Father and edify us, but also to be the living water that a decaying world is thirsty for. Depending on our spiritual gifts, some of us may be given the gift of healing, some the gift of encouragement, some the gift of preaching, and so on. But regardless of our spiritual gift, God expects us to be a conduit of that ministry and grace to others. What good is the gift of healing if we are afraid of touching people to heal them? What good is the gift of encouragement if we don't uplift those who are discouraged?

The Lord Jesus Christ allowed Himself to be touched by an unclean woman with a discharge. For a pious Jew like Jesus, this was just unthinkable. But Christ knowingly allowed Himself to be touched by an unclean woman. The Lord was also aware that power had left Him. We know when money leaves our account. Likewise, we will know when the power of the Holy Spirit flows through us, like bolts of lightning, to heal, encourage, minister, and administer other gifts of the Holy Spirit to people in need. But we should allow the Holy Spirit to flow through us and not contain Him, as He can not be contained.
