Prayer Requests, Open Doors 5/28/2020

.

YOU ANSWERED USHA'S CALL FOR HELP "We are surviving only by God's grace. This is only because we pray to God." Usha's faith has sustained her. Like many Christians in India, and across the world, she has no income because of the ongoing Covid-19 crisis, and needs food. Official aid was not taken to her small Christian community. She made a desperate call to Open Doors partners in India and, thanks to your prayers and gifts, they were able to bring her vital food. Now those partners have gone back to speak with Usha and find out how she is. Video: see Usha's meeting with Open Doors partners You can hear more about Usha, and join in prayer for you and for the persecuted church, in our webinar at 8:15 this evening. Register now. PLEASE PRAY:

  • Give thanks that Open Doors partners have been able to bring Usha and her community the relief they need

  • That Christians wouldn't be discriminated against when aid is distributed

  • For Christians to be strengthened and emboldened to speak the truth of the gospel in India.

COMMUNIST OPPRESSION IN LAOS Laos, which is number 20 on the World Watch List, is ruled by the Communist party. While Buddhism is an accepted religion as part of the country's national heritage, Christianity is seen as a foreign ideology, and therefore hostile. House churches are considered ‘illegal gatherings’ and must take place in secret. Believers from Buddhist backgrounds are considered to have betrayed their community, and they are often put under pressure by their own extended families to return to Buddhism. Open Doors works through local church partners in Laos, who provide Bibles and other Christian materials, discipleship programmes, advocacy and practical aid. What's life like for Christians in Laos? A prayer for Laos Heavenly Father, thank You that You continue to build Your church in Laos. Protect our brothers and sisters who meet in house churches, and help the believers who meet in government-controlled churches to thrive in their faith too. Make Yourself known to more and more people in Laos, we pray. Amen. With many thanks for your prayers,

1 Kings 19:18 (NIV) Yet I reserve seven thousand in Israel. God always reserved the best for Himself. Those words must have been a stinging rebuke to the Prophet Elijah. Elijah was a great man of God
