Trembling

Philippians 2:12 (NIV)

Continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling.

A saint can never be too sure about their salvation. As much as we have the assurance of the Holy Spirit that we are saved, that much we need to fear and tremble in the Presence of a holy and awesome God. Whenever we think that we have understood God's will and ways perfectly, we become arrogant and conceited. God will always spring up something new that will challenge our faith and convictions, and sometimes even contradict what we have accepted as fact or normal. It's in those times that we have to humble ourselves to the Holy Spirit's chastening and ask the Lord to see if there's any offensive way left in us and lead us on the way everlasting. We should constantly stand in awe of a holy God and ask Him to probe us to see if we are walking with the Lord. We should be constantly working out our salvation with fear and trembling in the Presence of the holy and awesome Son of God.
