Go

Mark 1:38 (NIV)

Let us go somewhere else—to nearby villages—so I can also preach there.

The Lord Jesus Christ never got attached to any place or people. He was always on the move. He never stayed at places where He was worshipped for long. He did not hurry out of places where He was insulted and rejected. Humans tend to settle where they are welcome and find kindred spirits. But that is not the will of God. In Acts 8:3-5, the Church is scattered all over Judea and Samaria. The Apostles had become so comfortable with the growing Church that they forgot the great commission to go into all the world and preach the gospel. In such times, God will have to use violence and persecution to drive us out of our comfort zones and safe spaces and fling us out to far-out places we never visited to accomplish His purpose. The scattered Apostles went to all the corners of the globe. Philip went to Samaria, while legend states that Thomas went to India.

Today, we see Churches that have become obese, slick, and overgrown both in wealth and size. Believers go there to be fed. But how long do they want to be fed? When will they start going out to feed others? The same goes for the Pastors and shepherds. They have become so comfortable in their safe spaces that they have not gone out of their Churches to evangelize in their neighborhoods, country, or other nations. Televising services is a lazy way of evangelizing. There is no substitute for human presence and touch. These people are not willing to cross the street, let alone the world, to minister to others.

There is no room for laziness in the kingdom of God. Like our Master, we should go where the Lord sends us. If the Lord gives us the resources to physically go somewhere, we should. If not, the Lord will undoubtedly enable us to reach out to those in need through other means. We should always be ready and willing to leave our safe spaces and go where the Lord sends us.
