Psalm 37:5 (NIV)
Commit your way to the Lord.
The Hebrew word for "way" in that verse is "derek," which means path or road. King David is advising us to commit our path or road to God Almighty. That means our plans, our lives, our worldview, and our way of doing things. In one word, commit our "life" to the Lord. This is the reason many Christians fail. They have not fully surrendered their lives to the Lord. This is why the word of the Lord is not coming to them, as God is not directly speaking to them. They have to go to God's word and read it, rather than have God's word come to them directly. That is what baptism in the Holy Spirit means, as the power and word of God come to you directly because you are fully yielded to Christ.
