Standing in the gap

Psalm 106:30 (NIV)

But Phinehas stood up and intervened, and the plague was restrained.

God is looking for godly men who will stand in the gap and defend His cause. When Jesus called His disciples He knew that every last one of them would abandon Him when He needed them the most. However, He also saw in them undying loyalty and devotion to Him. He knew that with training and His Holy Spirit these men would stand in the gap for Him. We ought to do the same.
