Died

Colossians 3:3 (NASB)

For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

Death is a natural part of living. However, it is essential for the salvation of a child of God. Unless one dies to sin and the old nature, one can never enter the kingdom of God. The death referred to here is spiritual death. The Apostle Paul admonished us to put our sinful nature to death (Colossians 3:5). The Godlike nature of the Lord Jesus Christ will not be manifested in us unless the carnal nature is put to death. But the carnal nature will not die by itself and will keep warring against God, for the mind of the sinful man is hostile to God (Romans 8:7). The only way to destroy the rebellious, sinful nature in a man is through the Holy Spirit. If by the Spirit we have died to sin (Romans 8:13), we will live eternally in Christ, in Whom our life is hidden and is an eternal blessing.
