1 Corinthians 15:19 (NIV)
If only for this life we have hope, we are to be pitied more than all men.
If our faith in God is only for this temporal life, to enjoy His blessings on this earth and then die, then we are the most pitiful creatures that ever existed. Some, like the Sadducees, do not believe in resurrection. Their "faith" in God is only for living a good life in this world. If there is no resurrection, if there is no heaven, and there is no eternal life and immortality, then both the Lord Jesus Christ and the Apostle Paul were the greatest frauds and fools that ever existed. Why would a Man allow Himself to be crucified if He were lying about the resurrection? Why would a brilliant man like Saul of Tarsus allow himself to be stoned, beaten, shipwrecked, starved, left for dead, and finally executed by a crazy emperor if there is no resurrection? If only for this life, they had faith in God, Paul and the other Apostles were the greatest fools ever. No, they believed in a life after this that was worth dying for. What do you believe?
