Elitism

Matthew 16:18 (NASB)

Upon this rock I will build My church.

What is the true church, and who is a true believer? Has elitism permeated the Church? Do certain denominations proclaim themselves to be the true heirs of the Apostolic church (Acts 2:46-47)? Do they claim to be the sole legitimate heir to Christ and His church?

This sort of elitism that excludes other believers and denominations is pervasive in the church. Elitism is rampant when governments, institutions, and hierarchies claim to be the sole heirs of the Apostles and the martyrs and that every other church is illegitimate. As saints, we need to get back to the foundations of the Church and reaffirm our belief that there is only one Church and that Christ is Lord over all (Ephesians 4:4-6). Every blood-washed saint who believes in the Lord Jesus Christ and is sanctified by the Holy Spirit is a member of that church (Galatians 3:28).
