Fellowship with Him

Psalm 23:4 (NIV)

...for you are with me...

Most of us read this verse to mean that the Lord is always with us, and He is. But have we ever wondered if the Lord is referring to us and saying that we are with Him? Towards the end of His earthly life and just before His crucifixion the Lord thanked His disciples for being with Him through His ordeals. He then went on to confer the kingdom of God upon them. Our sainthood is primarily determined by our fellowship with Him in His sufferings. When a single soul suffers, Christ suffers. Our sympathy for that suffering soul is in fact an empathy for the sufferings of Christ Himself.
