Pharisee spirit

Romans 2:23 (Berean Study Bible)

You who boast in the law, do you dishonor God by breaking the law?

It's really easy to fall into the trap of pharisaism. T his day and age we may not preach legalism, but it's just as easy to fall into the trap of legalistic grace. If someone doesn't live according to our definition and version of Christianity, then they must not be Christians. As much as we are supposed to discern the character of a person by the fruit of the Holy Spirit, it's easy to make that a yardstick. For example, one of the fruits of the Spirits is peace which means that any one who is the least bit agitated is not a Christian or walking in the Spirit. Even Christ was extremely agitated in the garden of Gethsemane while still praying in the Spirit. We have to seek the discernment of the Holy Spirit to distinguish between our own anxiety and that which God allows in His permissive will. Else, we fall into the trap of pharisaism that Satan has laid out for us.
