Where is He?

Job 23:8 (NIV)

"But if I go to the east, he is not there;

if I go to the west, I do not find him".

Have we been looking for God in the wrong places? We go to church but have no peace, we read scriptures diligently but have no joy, we pray fervently but never receive any answers.

The Pharisees were this way too. Job was suffering and didn't know why. Sometimes God isn't in the spectacular but in the most mundane. Elijah was expecting to meet God in a storm, instead he heard His gentle voice. Sometimes God reveals Himself to us through a child, a cooing bird, a blade of grass and so on. But He always reveals Himself to us in the historic Jesus of Nazareth.
